What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety occurs when the mind and body become overwhelmed, consciously or subconsciously, by feelings of uncertainty or perceived danger. It can be triggered by almost anything, creating an intense sense of dread even when no real threat is present. A person's biological makeup, life experiences, family history, personality, and coping skills all play a role in their susceptibility to anxiety.
