Harpreet Kang
Harpreet completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2012. She has been in the helping profession for over 15 years. She has a Masters in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care with a Specialization in Social Work. She is a certified EMDR therapist and also completed an EMDR child Specialist Intensive Program with Ana Gomez. Harpreet is registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
Harpreet is an open minded, flexible and creative therapist. She works with clients with varied life experience and uses creative approaches to help navigate them through the therapeutic process. She works in alliance with her clients. Harpreet has a strong understanding of how cultural backgrounds, values and beliefs can shape ones life experiences. She is sensitive to all facets of ones life when establishing therapeutic approaches. She also has extensive experience working with children and youth and helping parents bridge the gap between themselves and their children alongside with family trauma and distressing events.
Another passion of Harpreet is working with children/youth and adults of immigrant families. Western society takes an individualistic approach to culture and Eastern cultures take a collective approach. This variance causes conflict within families trying to create a balance between the two. Harpreet helps families explore the family culture along with the hybrid culture the child is growing up in.
There are many different modalities Harpreet utilizes. EMDR, EMDR for children, attachment based, Cognitive behavioural, emotionally focused, family systems, play, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, narrative, person centered, sand play and somatic therapy.
Harpreet believes people have the power to heal their minds from their life experiences. As a therapist she believe with the right supports and alliances in place people can navigate life in a healthy content way. Sometimes a person does not even know what is causing them chaos, or grief in their lives but in the right, and safe environment it can be explored.
Raman Sandhu
Raman is a Registered Clinician Counsellor with over eight years experience providing counselling support to individuals, children, parents, families, and couples. His passion is to support others in healing their own unresolved challenges by providing them with the tools necessary to live a healthier and more meaningful life. Raman comes from a culturally rich background and brings a client centered approach, which allows him to work with individuals from many different cultures while honoring their diversity. His personalize style allows him to adapt his approach to the clients specific needs in to support whatever is present for the individual. Raman uses a variety of therapeutic approaches and is skilled in working with clients experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions and stress management.
Raman strives to offer a safe, empathetic, compassionate and understanding atmosphere as he empowers individuals and families to reach their personal goals and find connection within themselves and with others. Using a holistic perspective with somatic based approach, Raman works with clients to use their individual strengths and intuition in order to support them to live their lives to the fullest. One of his focuses is to work collaboratively with clients to provide an environment that supports increased awareness and insight into the root causes of their challenges through somatic based practices. Raman brings insight to families with cross cultural values and works to address concerns related to relational, behavioral, and emotional issues.
Using a holistic philosophy Raman encourages his clients to develop an awareness of their whole self including the body, mind, and spirit. Through a process of mindfulness, skill building, reflection, and warm support his clients can learn to navigate and make sense their challenges.
